“March Madness” is more than a catchphrase to sell t-shirts and get high school and college students excited about a future with the Temple Owls, it’s a phenomenon that thanks to a special men’s basketball team that has taken the Temple University community by storm. The Liacouras Center was brimming with energy March 7, with the crowd collectively and emphatically chanting one thing: “BEAT U-CONN!”

After Saturday’s thrilling second win over the defending NCAA Division I Champions, the University of Connecticut Huskies, the men’s basketball team now has a respectable 22-9 record going into the American Athletic Conference Tournament this weekend. While Temple men’s hoops may not get the national acclaim of #7-ranked Villanova, as it makes its march towards Selection Sunday, the Owls are playing every minute like the whole world is watching. And it’s showing.

Anytime a basketball team blitzes, only special things can happen.  With the way these Owls have been playing, more special things may be aligned for them as they fight towards what basketball lovers of all ages call the NCAA Tournament: The Big Dance.
